Prepare. Wash your hands and remove the tampon from its wrapper.

Get comfortable. Sitting, squatting, or with one leg raised all work.

Insert. Hold the base of the tampon, part the labia with your other hand, and gently push the tampon into your vagina, angled towards the small of your back. Leave the string outside your body.

Change every 4–8 hours, and never leave a tampon in for longer than 8 hours. If you use one overnight, insert a fresh tampon just before bed and remove it as soon as you wake up.

Remove by gently pulling the string.

Bin it, never flush it.
